Manuel Clay Carr, age 64, Kingsport
Apr 16, 2018Clay was born on November 27, 1953 in Kingsport to the late Stuart and Ogal Carr. He worked for many years as a press operator at Kingsport Press until its closure, and then went on to work at the Kingsport Book.Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Logan Hatfield; and nephews, Austin Carr and Michael Rollins.Clay is survived by his son, Chad Carr; daughter, Angie and David Chess; sisters, Zelda Slemp and Diane Rollins; brothers, Timmy Carr, Chris “Pooty” Carr, and Wyatt and Rinda Carr; grandchildren, Kenneth Carr, Aasin and Brittany Bowlin, Lexis and Tyler Hayes, Justice and Zack Petty, Noelle Hatfield, Eli Hatfield, Ethan Chess, and Aiden Chess; great-grandchild, Kaysen Petty; and a host of nieces, nephews, and uncles.The family will receive friends on March 29, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Carter Trent Funeral Home, Downtown Kingsport. A funeral will follow with Preacher Joe Hensley and Pastor Timmy Morelock officiating. Phillip and Amber Brown, and Kathy Carter will provide the music.A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 30, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Lovelace Cemetery, 987 Ryan Road, Fall Branch, TN 37656, with Pastor Timmy Morelock officiating. Family members will serve as pallbearers.
